Mark Williams
I was born in the sunny hills of Yonkers, New York a little over thirty years ago. Writing has been a part of my life since I was five, when I needed something to pass the time while in the hospital with leukemia. What began as short stories about Godzilla, Hulk Hogan, and unicorns would eventually morph into poetry and prose dealing with suicide, sexuality, drugs, family struggles, displacement and other issues faced by teenagers.
While considered a "sad poet" in high school, my creative endeavors would help me land a spot in the Department of Dramatic at NYU's Tisch School for the Arts, where a team of dedicated experts taught me how to tailor my craft for the stage and screen.
My plays have been performed on various stages across the New York area, including: Manhattan Theatre Source, 78th Street Theatre Project, Philipsburgh Performing Arts Center, and the Rita and Goldberg Theatre at NYU. Additionally, I have written for HX Magazine, BusinessWeek.com, and Gawker Media. I am an active member of Blueberry Pond Theatre Ensemble in Ossining, New York; have completed two feature-length screenplays, and am currently putting the finishing touches on my first novel.
